The Desire to Know Your Own Soul
I stumbled across this quote by Rumi a few days ago, and it has been lingering on my mind ever since:
“The desire to know your own soul will end all other desires.”
It struck me because, in so much of the work I do, whether through Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT), cycle awareness, or soon Human Design, the heart of healing so often comes back to self-understanding. People seek out these modalities not just to fix a problem or overcome a challenge, but ultimately, to know themselves on a deeper level.
Because for so many, this concept of knowing your own soul is foreign. We grow up in a world where we are taught to look outside of ourselves for answers. From a young age, we are conditioned to turn our desires outwards, to seek external validation, to measure our worth by external achievements, to follow predefined paths rather than listening to our hearts true desires. We are conditioned to mould ourselves to fit in and meet societal expectations. We are encouraged to prioritise logic over intuition, productivity over presence and conformity over individuality.
But what happens when you start turning inwards instead? When you stop searching for answers in the external world and begin exploring the depths of your own being?
That’s where true healing begins.
When I work with women, I often see the same struggles playing out in the form of self-doubt, feelings of failure, fear and uncertainty about the future. Beneath the surface, so much of this pain stems from disconnection, from their intuition, their inner wisdom and their sense of self. They come to me with the hope of finding clarity, relief, answers and a path forward. But what they often find is something even more profound, and that is themselves.
And now, as I deepen my studies in Human Design, I see the same pull. People, myself included, are drawn to it because of a deep-seated desire to understand who we are at our core; why we think, feel and behave the way we do. To have a framework that helps us recognise our strengths, release conditioning and embrace who we were always meant to be.
Whether through Rapid Transformational Therapy, cycle awareness and cyclical living, Human Design or honestly any other healing modality, the common thread is the same….self-discovery. Because when we truly know ourselves, we stop chasing what was never meant for us. The endless striving, the need for external approval, the pressure to be someone we’re not, it all starts to dissolve.
And in its place, something profound emerges:
Clarity...a knowing of who you are and what truly matters.
Peace…a release of the constant need to prove yourself.
Alignment…the ability to move through life in a way that feels natural, fulfilling and true to you.
And so I’m wondering if this is what Rumi meant? That when you truly know your own soul, you no longer need or have the desire to search outside of yourself for answers or fulfilment. Because everything you were looking for was within you all along.
So if you’ve been feeling the pull to go deeper, to explore your soul, understand yourself better, and find the answers that already exist within you, I’d love to support you. Whether through RTT, cycle awareness or simply a conversation, there is a path to understanding and self-discovery waiting for you.
