Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT) & Hypnotherapy for Fertility
As a midwife and IVF nurse, I know fertility is undoubtedly complex and there are so many contributing factors at play. However I also know that even when there is a physical issue that is being managed, your mindset, emotional state, stress levels, limiting beliefs or negative thoughts play a huge role in how well you can navigate this time of your life.
RTT is an incredibly powerful tool that uses hypnotherapy to work with the subconscious mind and focuses on addressing any limiting beliefs, blocks or barriers. And the beautiful thing about RTT is that while you may approach it with the goal of supporting you through a fertility journey, it will have a flow on effect to every aspect of your life; your overall wellbeing, relationships, self-worth, life satisfaction….everything is connected.
While RTT is not a replacement for medical treatment when medical issues are diagnosed, it can be a powerful complementary therapy for women who are undergoing fertility treatment. And of course also for women who have unexplained infertility and who are trying to conceive naturally.
How can RTT and hypnotherapy help with fertility?
RTT and hypnotherapy can help address a variety of emotional and mental challenges associated with infertility, including:
Managing stress associated with IVF and fertility treatment
Processing grief and loss
Managing anxiety about pregnancy or birth
Overcoming phobias. E.g. of needles, hospitals, blood
Pain management
Addressing fears around fertility, pregnancy and birth
Encouraging positive lifestyle change
Improving self-esteem and confidence
Providing clarity with your path forward
Healing from trauma, guilt or shame related to fertility or pregnancy
Ultimately RTT aims to get to the root cause of the ‘problem’, identify any subconscious blocks or limiting beliefs and clear these so that you can move forward with new, positive and supportive beliefs that align with your vision for motherhood.
What are subconscious blocks and limiting beliefs?
While you may consciously want a baby, there may be something hiding under the surface in your subconscious mind that is at odds with your conscious desire.
Some common subconscious blocks include…
If you feel overwhelmed with life, subconsciously you may feel you don’t have the capacity for a baby.
If you’ve had past trauma (such as traumatic birth, miscarriage, pregnancy loss), there may be an underlying element of protection as you don’t want to experience this again.
If you’ve had a previous termination, there may be a layer of guilt or shame around this and feelings of being undeserving of another baby.
If there is a history of family/childhood trauma, there can be an underlying feeling of not wanting to ‘pass this down’.
There may be limiting beliefs around your or your partner’s ability to be ‘good’ parents.
If you have phobias (such as of needles, hospitals, blood, vomiting, birth), you may subconsciously be avoiding anything that may be associated with these things.
There may be feelings of uncertainty about transitioning to parenthood; perhaps of losing independence, your relationship changing, your career being impacted etc.
If you have fears (such as fear of birth, pregnancy, changing body, losing control, failure), there may be an element of self-protection as you subconsciously avoid anything associated with these experiences.
If you’ve experienced grief and loss in your journey to motherhood, subconsciously you may be avoiding anything that may bring a possibility of this happening again.
This is where subconscious work is so incredibly powerful. Unlike traditional methods that focus solely on changing behaviour or managing thoughts, RTT goes deeper, targeting the root cause of the belief itself. By accessing the subconscious mind, we identify the experiences that created the beliefs and then replace these with positive, supportive and beneficial beliefs that will actually allow you to live the life you want.
The impact of early life experiences on fertility
Often the experiences that shape our core beliefs happen early in life, and they may not be as obvious as we think. For example, a seemingly minor incident in childhood can leave a lasting impression on your subconscious.
For example imagine as a young child, your parents have another baby. And you overhear your Mum talking about how awful the birth was, how painful it was, how tired she is, how hard it is to cope with two children. You can see how your mind is then making an assumption here that having a baby is painful and unpleasant.
And then you grow up in a world where this is a common narrative woven through the media, books, movies and perhaps even what friends or family members have told you of their experiences. And so this leads to confirmation bias which refers to the brain’s tendency to seek out, interpret and remember information in a way that confirms your existing beliefs. In other words, once you have a core belief, your brain is constantly scanning the environment for evidence that supports it, while ignoring or discounting evidence that contradicts it.
If you believe “birth is painful and scary” for example, you might focus on all the times you read, are told or come across a birth story that reinforces this, while overlooking all the positive and empowering birth stories. This selective perception reinforces the belief, making it even more entrenched.
Fast forward to when you are ready for a baby, while you may consciously want this and consciously have no particular fears or concerns about being pregnant or starting a family, you can see how this may be at odds with what your subconscious mind holds and believes to be true.
And the thing is, as with everything in life there is no hard and fast rule.
Someone else may have had the same experience as you and yet it hasn’t played into their journey into motherhood at all. Everyone is different and everyone responds differently to their experiences and will interpret them in different ways.
The power of RTT and hypnotherapy
By working with the incredible power of your subconscious mind, we can not only identify any limiting beliefs that are holding you back, but we can also reframe, upgrade and reprogram these beliefs for new, positive and supportive ones. Through this process we open the door to profound healing and transformation.
This process doesn’t just change how you think; it changes what you believe about yourself, how you feel, how you behave and how you experience the world.
What to expect from an RTT session
In an RTT session for fertility, we’ll work together to….
Revisit at least 3 scenes from your past that relate to the ‘problem’ you are facing
Identify and understand the limiting beliefs these experiences left you with
Reframe and ‘weed out’ these limiting beliefs
Reprogram new, empowering, positive beliefs that support you and align with your vision for motherhood
Experience deep relaxation and calm
Each session is tailored to your unique situation and designed to create lasting change. After your session, you’ll receive a personalised hypnosis audio to reinforce the positive suggestions and new beliefs which is yours to listen to every day for at least 21 days.
